This Vintage/Antique Chest, known as a Pitara, dates back to the mid-20th century and originates from Gujarat, the westernmost state of India. The geometric patterns you see are a typical feature of Indian Pitaras. The floral or star design is often associated with traditional Indian craft techniques. It is made of teak wood and decorated with iron rivets and bands around the sides. Including the front closure and side handles, are intact.
